Production Support Engineer

Full Time | Permanent | Aberbeeg, South Wales

Working for the Operations Manager you will lead in both the Environmental Management System and Health and Safety Management System and provide support in other production related areas such as factory improvements / efficiencies

This role is to maintain SHE legal compliance of the business and it’s two UK production facilities and provide support where required for production / operational issues

Main Responsibilities

Health, Safety and Environmental

  • Reviewing, understanding and implementing legislation which is applicable to the business
  • Maintaining legislation register for applicable legislation
  • Implementing and maintaining environmental or health and safety policies / procedures / handbooks, ensuring compliance
  • Advise and guide all Heads of Department and other personnel to ensure compliance with the companies SHE policies and procedures
  • Conducting audits as and when required
  • Constantly seeking areas for improvement and development in SHE performance
  • Building up a good rapport with the workforce based on trust and cooperation
  • Carrying out safety inspections as and when required
  • Delivering toolbox talks on safety and wellbeing themes
  • Making a positive contribution to improving health and safety standards
  • Working closely with the operational management team on SHE
  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Reviewing health & safety documentation

Production Support

  • Providing support to the operations team on factory improvements / layout
  • Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities
  • Capital expenditure projects and budgets
  • Reviewing plant and equipment and proposing improvements
  • Supporting the development and implementation of operations related QMS procedures

Key Skills

  • Proven experience working within the engineering/manufacturing sector
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH Environmental Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A strong technical knowledge across relevant SHE legislation, compliance and regulations
  • Microsoft Office and Excel Skills
  • A full UK driving license
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and Train the Trainer are desirable but not essential.
  • Specific experience in COSHH and vibration is advantageous


In addition to the above, willing to undertake training as required (such as Health and Safety, Environmental, Lean Manufacturing, 5S etc)
