A European Heavy Machinery OEM approached us looking to develop a localisation strategy for their iron counterweight sourcing to meet their growing customer base in and across Europe.
The customer partnered with Blackwood and utilised our wide range of value-adding services. We provided this customer risk mitigation and peace of mind as we delivered The Blackwood Way ensuring production of the counterweight was on-time and on-budget.

Managed Partner Foundries
We worked closely with our partner foundries to produce cast grey iron counterweights which were created using the V-Process. Our team also managed our partner to ensure on-time delivery meeting the customers tight deadline requirements.
Customised Finishing
Once we received delivery of the counterweight from our partner foundry the 3.7T Grey Iron Counterweights were gloss painted to the customers specific conditions fully utilising the custom paint facilities available at our site in Dilsen-Stokkem, Belgium.
Bespoke Packaging
We designed bespoke stillages to best fit the dimensions of the product to ensure the counterweight travelled safely and arrived to the customer undamaged and in excellent condition ready to be installed on their machine.
Distribution
Our SCM team fully managed the distribution and delivery of the 3.7T counterweight to ensure the product was ready to be shipped to meet the customers tight lead time. We delivered on-time despite volatile shipping congestions. We also utilised shipment by lorry to deliver the finished counterweight to the customers central EU base.
