How long have you been part of the Blackwood Team?
Nearly 3 and a half years.
What is the most rewarding aspect of being employed at Blackwood Engineering?
Being part of a successful, growing UK company; a positive economic story! And our lovely team!
What does your role include as Compliance Officer for Blackwood Engineering?
Carrying out internal auditing of company processes across all 3 sites, and dealing with compliance issues for customers, such as chemicals restrictions/legislation, conflict minerals, modern slavery etc.
What are the biggest challenges the BMS team has faced in the last 12 months?
A lot more compliance requests from customers, and more being added all the time! Also we now carry out almost all of the audits within our department (apart from our own procedures), whereas before it was spread across other departments, so a lot more work. Less so for me, but for Michelle and Hannah a large workload relating to environmental/sustainability requests from customers.
What challenges are you currently facing and how are you overcoming them?
Making sure we complete the audit calendar by the end of the year!
How does the BMS team help deliver the Blackwood Way?
By maintaining oversight over our processes, thus maintaining customers’ confidence.
Final thoughts?
Having great colleagues is such a bonus! People in all departments are always helpful and pleasant to deal with.
